Clicking on clickable buttons to display more information
As mentioned in clickable buttons, clickable metrics allow users to get more information on the number displayed, it will bring up a table with the row level data that contribute to the metric.
Refining the data selection on the page with filters
There are different methods to apply filters on a page. When you do, it will impact all the object values on the page. This means that all objects will automatically refresh with measurements and values representing the filter that has been applied through one of the following method.
Filtering through the Filter Pane and Date Search
Filtering can easily be done through the Filter Panes or the Date Search bars, allowing users to refine the displayed data based on specific criteria. Filter Panes enable users to select relevant dimensions while Date Search bars allow filtering based on a specific time range.
Filtering by interacting with visual objects
Filtering for the page can also be done directly on objects. In the bar chart example below, if you want to focus on only NWIPs dated between 2019 to 2024, you can click on the relevant year values in the horizontal bars and confirm the selection as per instructions below:
Once the selection is confirmed, the bar chart will refresh with your selection:
If the bar chart contains a legend, as is the case in this example, you can also apply a filter on the desired legend’s dimension. Alternatively, you can select the dimension directly on the bar:
This filtering method of clicking directly on the desired segments within the chart also applies to other visual elements such as pie charts and Sankey charts.
Filtering on tables
Filtering in tables is done using the table headers, which function as search bars. When the magnifying glass icon is clicked, users can enter keywords
or values to filter the data within that column.
It is also possible to scroll through the table at row level and click on specific cell values in the rows to apply further selections. This will dynamically update the displayed data based on the selected values.
In the example below, I am interested in meetings for the sectors Information Technology, Graphics and Photography, Business Management and Innovation, and Sustainability and Environment. By clicking on any cells containing the values I want to filter by and then confirming my selection by clicking on the tick icon, I will apply a filter to my meetings data on the whole page, which will now focus only on the selected sectors.
