Permissions level in Global Directory


Who has access to the Global Directory

The Global Directory is accessible only to User Administrators of ISO member organizations, Regional Standards Organizations (RSOs) such as CEN, ISO, and ISOCS administrators where access is required for support. User Administrators act as official representatives responsible for managing their organization’s data (expert, organization and committee).

Key responsibilities of a User Administrator

User Administrator are responsible to:

  • Create and manage experts and their roles for the organization they represent
  • Create and manage organizations
  • Create and manage committees
  • Maintain experts role and personal information up-to-date on a regular basis

Visibility scope and restrictions

General principles on user data visibility

The user identity, contact, status and administrated organization  is visible to all User Administrators across the system (NSBs, ISO, and RSOs).

The user committee and organization roles as well as the preferences of the user have restricted visbility.

Visibility on user profile details

User information visible to all:

  • Salutation
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Account email
  • Notification email
  • Administrated by
  • Status (active/inactive)

User information with restricted visibility:

Preferred language is only visible by the User Administrator of the person (Administrated by)

Visibility on staff roles

User staff roles includes:

  • Employee of organization which indicates the name of the organization that employ the person as well as the function that this person has in the organization
  • User Administrator– person representing an NSB and who is responsible to manage experts, organizations and committees on behalf of the NSB

The user staff roles are visible by the User Administrator who has appointed the role.

Visibility on ISO roles

The role of person on an ISO committee or ISO project is visible by all User Administrators of the GD (UA of all ISO members, all Regional bodies and ISO)

Visibility on Regional roles

The role of person on a regional committee and all regional roles in general are ONLY visible by:

  • The User Administrator of the organizations member of ISO and RSO who has appointed the role (e.g. AFNOR)
  • The User Administrator of the regional committee (e.g. CEN)



Visibility on National roles

The role of person on a national committee is ONLY visible by:

  • The User Administrator of the person who has appointed the role (user admin of the organization that administrate the committee)
