Introducing the new Home portal

The new Home portal is the unified launchpad and dashboard for ISO, CEN, and ISOlutions standards development applications.  The new unified portal brings together the former ISO, ISOlutions, and CEN portals into a single location, allowing users to access all applications across any of their working areas.

This new portal builds on ISO’s recent unification of user tasks and actions from any working area into the My Actions page as well as the introduction of multi-working area capabilities within the Documents and Meetings applications.

The Home portal is both a dashboard and an application launcher, allowing users to easily manage the tasks and actions relevant to them, run reports, access applications across all working areas, and manage their profile and preferences.

Color themes and working areas

You may be used to seeing the familiar colors of red, blue, and purple associated with the different portals: ISO, CEN, and ISOlutions.  While these colors are still used in the different standards applications to denote working area context, the colors are less prominent on the new Home portal owing to its new multi-working area capabilities.

The new Home portal utilizes a gradient color palette to indicate and remind the users that they are using a unified, multi-working area portal.  Certain elements on the portal (e.g. Actions and More resources) continue to use the solid red, blue, or purple colors to indicate a specific working area.  However, most Home portal elements replace the individual working area colors with a gradient from red to purple.  See the screenshot below with arrows emphasizing the subtle gradient color scheme.

Please note

The individual standards development applications will continue to use the familiar red, blue and purple colors to visually indicate working areas.  The Home portal, however, employs a subtle gradient color scheme for element highlights to indicate its multi-working area nature.

Navigation bar

The navigation bar on the left of the Home portal provides access to the different applications and portal features:

Accessing your applications

The Apps page, accessible from the left navigation bar, displays the main standards development applications you have access to across all working areas, based on your roles.

This is a fundamental change to make note of:  the unified Home portal now provides you access to all applications you need – across all working areas: ISO, CEN, and ISOlutions.  Please read on to learn how to access your applications from the Apps page.

Multi-working area applications

Applications that are multi-working area by design – Documents, Meetings, and the Global Directory – are accessible with a single click on the respective application badge:

To access one of these three multi-working area applications, simply click on the application badge.  Once in the application, you will find all necessary working area search and filter options.

Single-working area applications

Two applications accessible from the portal – Ballots and Projects – require access to a different application for each working area (ISO, CEN, and ISOlutions national).  Depending on your roles, you may see one or both of these application badges with an arrow next to the badge name, indicating there are multiple working area applications you have access to within this application group.

From the Home portal apps page, click on the Ballots or Projects badge with the selector arrow and select the working area you wish to access.  For example, if you wish to view a national project (i.e. an ISOlutions managed project), select “National” from the list and the portal will navigate you to the National Projects application.  Selecting “CEN” will navigate you to CEN’s ProjeX application.

What if you don’t see a drop-down arrow next to Projects or Ballots?

If you only have access to one working area within Projects or Ballots (e.g. only “ISO” working area or only a national committee for an ISOlutions subscriber), then you will not see a drop-down selector next to the these application badges; rather, in this case clicking directly on the Projects badge will navigate you to the correct ISO Project application.

Please note

You will only see a drop-down next to Projects and Ballots if you have access to multiple working areas within those applications.  If you only have access to one working area, regardless of whether it is ISO, CEN, or National, then the Projects and Ballots badges will take you to the relevant application with a single click.

Upcoming actions

Below the application navigation badges you will see a short list of all upcoming actions relevant to you.  At the bottom of the Upcoming actions pane, you can click on “See all actions” to navigate to the My Actions page to access all of your relevant actions.

More resources

Below the Upcoming actions section of the Apps page is the “More resources” pane (you may need to scroll down to reveal it), which provides you with links to additional standards development resources.  These links are also role-based to keep your Apps page tidy and purposeful.

My Actions

There has been no change to the My Actions page with the unification of the three independent portals for ISO, CEN, and ISOlutions.  It’s the same My Actions dashboard, allowing you to access your tasks and actions across all your working areas.

Please refer to the My Actions article for a detailed guide on using this feature of the Home portal.

Reports

The Home portal Reports page now consolidates all reports you were able to access in the three independent portals (ISO, CEN, and ISOlutions) into a single page:

The reports are organized by working area using tabs at the top of the page.  The reports that are available within each tab are tied to your roles within those working areas, just as they were in the individual ISO, CEN, and ISOlutions portals.

Please refer to the Performance Indicators and Extractions article for a detailed guide on running and downloading report data from the Home portal.

Preferences

The new Home portal provides the same “Preferences” options as was available on the three independent portals (ISO, CEN, and ISOlutions).  No change has been made.

Please refer to the Preferences article for detailed guidance on managing your preferences within the Home portal.

My Profile

As with Preferences, no changes have been made to the My Profile section of the Home portal following the unification of the three independent portals into the new Home portal.

Getting help

With the new Home portal, ISO wants to make it easy for you to access the different help resources available.

The Home portal now allows you to access the following resources for help:

  1. The ISO Companion (ISO’s AI assistant).  Access to the ISO Companion is available to those users with an ISO international standardization role.
  2. The ISO Knowledge Base.  All users have access to search the Knowledge Base.
  3. The ISO Helpdesk.  For any questions about international standardization work not answered by the ISO Companion or by using the Knowledge Base, you can direct your question to the ISO Helpdesk.  (Please note that questions related to CEN or National standardization activities should be directed to the CEN or specific NSB Helpdesk, respectively.)
  4. The CEN Helpdesk.  For any issues or questions related to CEN standardization activities.
  5. Specific NSB support teams.  Each ISOlutions subscriber has a dedicated support channel for questions related to their national standardization activities.

The support channels listed above are all available from the beacon at the bottom left of the Home portal.  This beacon may appear as a globe icon (ISO Companion) or a beacon with a question mark, depending on your roles.

Please see the ISO Companion section of the Knowledge Base for more information on how this tool can help you in your international standardization work.
