Create national projects with online document

This article describes how to create a national project with an online document, or activate an online document for an existing national project, so that the national standard can be drafted using ISOlutions OSD National.

Overview

National projects can be created with an online document for drafting in ISOlutions OSD National.

Online documents are supported for:

• Homegrown national standards
• National adoptions based on an eligible ISO standard
• National adoptions based on an eligible Vienna Agreement standard
• National adoptions created from a template

You can either:

• create the national project and its OSD document at the same time; or
• create the national project first and activate its online document later.

Create project with online document

To create a new national project:

1. From the navigation bar, click + Project.

   

   
   
2. Select the appropriate Project type:
   • Homegrown, or

   • Adoption.

     

3. Complete the information required for the selected project type. Read the section: Complete the project attributes

   

4. Once the required information has been entered, choose whether to:
   • click Create to create the project without immediately creating its online document; or

   • click Create with online document to create the project and its OSD document at the same time.

     

     
     

Project attributes

The information required to create a national project and its online document depends on whether the project is Homegrown or an Adoption.

Use the table below as a reference for the fields in the Project Creation Form. Additional guidance is provided in the sections below for fields that require further explanation.

Adoption type

For Project type: Adoption, select the Adoption type. The available options are:

• Identical: The adopting standard is the same as the ISO standard, with only limited editorial changes compatible with identical status.
• Modified: The adopting standard includes changes from the ISO standard. The differences should be identifiable so that the national and international standards can be compared.

• Non-equivalent: The national standard differs technically from the ISO standard and the technical deviations must be identified.

  

Select the source for an Adoption project

For an Adoption project, use the From field to select the source that will be used to create the online document. The available options are:

• ISO Projects

• Template for adoption

  

From: ISO Projects

Use this option to create a national adoption based on an eligible ISO standard or supported Vienna Agreement standard. When ISO Projects is selected, the ISO Project to adopt field becomes available.

To select the standard to adopt:

1. For the From: field, select the Template for adoption option

2. Click on the search icon in the ISO Project to adopt field

   

3. Search for the required standard.
   1. You can search using information such as: Reference, Title, Document number, Part, Edition.
   2. Select the check box CEN collaboration only to restrict the results to applicable Vienna Agreement projects.
4. Select the standard from the list displayed

5. Click on the Apply button.

When a standard is selected, available metadata is used to pre-fill relevant project fields, including: Reference, Doc Number, Part Number, Edition, Main title, Language, Part title. Review the populated information before creating the project.

Where required:

• update the Reference so that it corresponds to the national designation;
• review the document number, part number and edition;
• modify the existing title information;
• add titles in the national language. Use + Add title to add additional titles. Titles can also be reordered or removed as required.

From: Template for adoption

Use this option when the adoption should be created from an existing Adoption template rather than from an ISO XML source. When Template for adoption is selected, the Template for adoption field becomes available.

To select an adoption template:

1. For the From: field, select the Template for adoption option
2. Click on the search icon in the Template for adoption field

3. Search for and select the required Adoption template.

4. Click on the Apply button.

   

Role information

Use Role information to identify the main contacts responsible for the project.

• Project Leader: Select one user from the available list of members assigned a role to the selected national committee in Global Directory.
• Editor team member: Select a lead editorial contact from users with the National Editorial Team role for your NSB in Global Directory. The selected person per project will be used to identify the main contact responsible for editorial or language-related work on the project.
• Publication team member: Select a lead publication contact from users with the National Publication Team role for your NSB in Global Directory. The selected person per project will essentially be used to identify the main contact responsible for publication-related work on the project.

Select project roles

1. Select the committee responsible for the national project.

   

   Under Role information, select:

   • Project Leader

     

   • Editor team member

     

   • Publication team member

     

National standard language and translation

• National standard language: Select the main language of the national standard before creating the online document.

  Important: The selected language cannot be changed after the online document is created.

• Translation: Select the Translation checkbox if the national standard is a translation.

OSD uses these settings to determine the default language behavior in the online document.

Copyright

Select a copyright statement for the national standard:

To select a copyright statement:

1. Click the Copyright field.

2. Select the appropriate statement from the list.

   

Activate online document for national project

To activate the online document for an existing national project:

1. Go to the national project to view its details

2. If the Activate in OSD button is disabled, it means the the mandatory fields such as: National standard language  have not been maintained for the national project

   

3. To Edit a national project, click on the three dots action menu in the General section, and select Edit,

   

   
   

4. Make the required modifications to the national project, such as the National standard language and click on the Save button.

   

   
   

5. Now, click on the Activate in OSD button in the Edit project page.

   

   
   

6. Click on the Confirm button, in the confirmation message pop-up window displayed.

   

Open the online document for the national project in OSD

After the online document has been activated:

1. Go to the project search page and click on the Open in OSD hyperlink

   

   OR

2. Open the project and click on the Open in OSD button.
