Open the folder in which you wish to create the document, then click on the + DOCUMENT icon from the left-hand menu.
If the + DOCUMENT icon is greyed out and not clickable there are usually 2 reasons:
- Make sure you opened the folder where you want to create the new document
- You do not have sufficient permissions to create documents in that folder. For more information on Permissions, please refer to the relevant article link at the bottom of this article.
Select the type of document you wish to create and fill in the metadata. The type of document is important as it determines the available metadata (e.g. a meeting document will present with the list of meetings from ISO Meetings). For more information on Documents types, please refer to the relevant article link at the bottom of this article.
N numbers are assigned automatically and reused if the document is deleted before being published. To reserve an N number, please create a new document without uploading a file.
It is not possible to manually select an N number (either for creation or for reservation)
Documents are created in status To be notified and are only visible and editable by the committee officers at this stage. The rest of the committee will not be able to access the document until the document is notified. For more information on how to Publish and notify document, please refer to the relevant article link at the bottom of this article.
This folder and its content can only be viewed by the “Managers” of the committee. The scope of this folder is to allow the committee Secretariat to store non-working documents, (i.e non N-document) used for administration purposes. Therefore. in this folder N-documents cannot be uploaded, only non-numbered documents.
Reserve N number
To reserve an N number, simply create a document without uploading any file. The number will be kept for this document and the document created in the to be notified status. By default the document title is set to "Reserved N-Number" but can also be specified manually (or amended before notification).
Once the document ready, from the document online reading panel, from the top right, click the Add version button to upload the file.
You will not be able to notify the document until attaching a file. Please refer to the related articles at the bottom of this article to read more about notifying documents. If deleted before publication, the N number will be made available for the next new document.
For Decisions (formerly known as Resolutions), the subtypes are automatically filtered out based on the type of committee ("Resolution" for TCs and SCs, "Recommendation" for WGs).
From 2021-02-10 the management of resolutions documents will be revised to be harmonized between ISO, CEN and ISO Governance groups and allow for better searching of such documents. Resolutions will be referred to as Decisions and will reflect the fact that Technical committees and Sub-committees create "Resolutions" while Working Groups create "Recommendations"

What happened to the previous resolutions?
All existing resolutions have been converted automatically to their corresponding new type (Decision > Resolution for TCs and SC, Decision > Recommendations for WGs). Long story short: there is absolutely no action item for Committee Managers or any other person involved in the committee!
